Installation and Care

If you want to enjoy your hot tub for a long time and maximise the service life of the tub and equipment, then you will need to look after the hot tub water properly. By regularly treating the water, you will prevent poor water quality, potential health hazards and possible damage to your hot tub.

Filling the tub & water maintenance

Fill the hot tub with mains water up to the water mark on the filter system cover as soon as you unpack it or protect it from direct sunlight by using the cover or packaging. Never expose a hot tub without any water in it to sunlight as that can damage the tub. The hot tub can only be operated when there is water in it. Otherwise you risk damaging the pump and heater severely. Never fill the hot tub with artificially softened water unless you add a suitable mineral supplement immediately.

Changing the water

When you use your hot tub, soap and detergent residue from your skin or bathing suit along with other substances used for maintaining the water chemistry in the hot tub accumulates in the water and makes it more difficult to preserve the water quality. Depending on how often the hot tub is used, the water will need to be replaced every 1-4 months or when the water chemical levels become difficult to manage. Remove all JetPaks when changing the water. Clean the tub and JetPak areas with a hot tub cleaner. Clean the other hot tub areas, including the JetPaks, with a hot tub cleaner as required.

Hot tub care

For normal cleaning, use a mild washing-up liquid, a window cleaner or a product recommended by your official Villeroy & Boch hot tub dealer. Use a mild acrylic cleaner or a mild chemical detergent to remove stubborn stains. Apply these cleaners with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth. Preparing for winter

When the temperature sensors in the heater detects temperatures that are too low, it automatically switches on the pumps to protect the hot tub from frost. Depending on the surrounding conditions, the pumps run continually or at regular intervals. Before you make your hot tub winterproof, you will need to thoroughly disinfect the water. This prevents bacteria, algae and fungi from forming in any areas of the piping that may not be fully free of water after you have drained your hot tub for the winter.
